Vaikom Muhammad Basheer (1908-1994) was a writer noted for his path-breaking, down-to-earth style of writing that made him equally popular among literary critics as well as the common people. Anal Haq is a collection of short stories by Basheer translated to Tamil by award-winning translator Kolachal M. Yoosuf. Though Basheer shared the same world with us, he had a different relationship with them. Though he spoke the same words as us, he gave them new meanings. This made him write about out world, portraying it through new lenses. His stories show us where art becomes the light of spirit.
